Sumit S Jamuar is an entrepreneur, dreamer and builder. He is the Co-Founder of Global Gene Corp where he served as Chairman & CEO of Global Gene Corp. He is considered a pioneer in the genomics industry shaping the global narrative on solving for the genomic data diversity. Winner of $1 Million “Star Trek” Roddenberry Prize for Science in 2020 for the work on DNA of Indian populations, the company has been profiled by leading publications like the BBC, “The Power of a BIllion: India’s Genomic Revolution”, and MIT Technology Review.

Prior to this, he was CEO of SBICAP (UK), the European Investment Banking subsidiary of State Bank of India, and was a Managing Director & Global Head at Lloyds Bank in the United Kingdom. He started his career as a consultant with McKinsey & Company.

Sumit is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine, and serves on the Scientific Advisory Board of CINECA – an EU Horizon 2020 funded programme – to deliver Common Infrastructure for National Cohorts in Europe, Canada and Africa for genetic data. He serves on the International Corporate Advisory Board of École des Ponts Business School, Paris.
Previously, he served on the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Global Precision Medicine Council. He was the Vice-Chair of the United Nations ITU – Gates Foundation focus group on Digital Financial Services for Financial Inclusion. He was also a member of UK BIA’s Genomic Advisory Committee, a Fellow of Institute of Directors (IoD), Member of BAFT-IFSA European Council and Board Director at GEFCO plc.

He holds a Bachelors’ degree in Chemical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi and an MBA from INSEAD. He is the recipient of the exceptionally prestigious “Global Alumni Recognition Award” by his alma mater IIT Delhi. He is a technology enthusiast, amateur photographer and avid traveller.
